Music Lessons

I teach piano, flute and recorder either via Zoom or in-person. I can focus on the style of music you prefer to learn and I don't mind whether we work towards music exams or just for the fun of playing. I aim to make my lessons fun and interesting while trying to push you and helping you to learn new techniques. I prefer to teach beginner to intermediate level students of any age, childrens and adults. I have a full-enhanced DBS check through GirlGuiding UK which I would be happy to share with you if required.

Ceilidhs and Barndances

I am a musician and caller in several ceilidh bands and I would be delighted to help you put together your perfect event! I can work with your requirements and your budget to organise a band and caller to suit your event and help you to plan out the evening. I have been playing ceilidhs since 2010 and calling since 2015. I prefer to call for English Ceilidhs but I am also happy to call Barndances and can include your favourite dances, including many of the well-known Scottish ceilidh dances. I call regularly for complete beginners, but have also called for more experienced dancers as well. All the bands I work with will bring PA equipment.
I can also help with risk assessments for ceilidhs if required.

Background Piano Music

I am a grade 8 level pianist and I would be delighted to provide background piano music for your event. Usually a range of classical and folk pieces that can merge into the background of your event.
I require you provide either:
- an in-tune upright or grand piano with music rest
OR
- a digital piano with excellent touch sensitivity and music rest
(For several reasons, I am unable to learn music off by heart so I will bring the sheet music I require, this is why a music rest is important).

Craft Commissions

I'd love to undertake a crafting commission for you!  I am always open for knitting (hand or machine), crochet, handspinning or sewing commissions at very reasonable prices.  Prices depend on the size and complexity of the project, let me know if you have a budget when you message me and I will do my best to accommodate you.  Be aware that commissions will be made to order and you should contact me well in advance.  I can do some things on a rush order, but this is not always available as I am a real person with other things to do besides crafting!

Some example time lengths to make things:
- scarves and shawls can take up to 8 months depending on the complexity but are likely to take less
- hats can generally be completed within a week or two if yarn is readily available
- socks will be made on the knitting machine and will, in general, take up to a week
- amigurumi creatures can take up to 2 months depending on the complexity
